The baby’s first snow-sledding experience…

So yes…I did get the baby all snazzed up in her snow-outfit. And let her sit in the snow…for a couple of minutes.

So Paul gets home and I ask him if he is going to go down the slope too. Yep. So up he goes holding Sage. And down he goes on the wrong side because he slipped. No one was hurt. Or deterred. Up he goes again. Holding Sage. He gets ready…and…

They make it safely to the bottom of the slope. Smiles and all. And then it was time to head in because…it was getting cold with the sun going down!

Sledding in a Winter Wonderland…er…cul-de sac…12.27.2009

IMG_8877IMG_8873 IMG_8869 Because of all the snow of course it is only appropriate that we head out to play in it right?

Normally this is something I leave up to Paul. I love the snow…outside. Bundling up all the kids to head out in it…not so much. But it was actually a whopping 30 something degrees outside so…of course I had to do it.

A huge mound of snow in the cul-de-sac made for a perfect slope…to make Stormy the table for the sled to go up. That is my nephew Nick and Shayne. Can you see Stormy there in the middle? Yep—they made that Stormy’s job.

IMG_8806 They also didn’t want to go first so guess who got to do that also? Yep- Stormy.

IMG_8814 IMG_8816 IMG_8817   IMG_8819

Actually, my nephew, Nick, never did go down the slope. He can talk the talk but NOT slide the slide. He was more into throwing snowballs and what-not. Such a boy.

Shayne on the other hand, did go down in the sled but then she had other things she wanted to do.

You know you have super long lashes when:

IMG_8875

snow sticks like this and looks so pretty.

As for Connor…what did he do? Not the sled down the slope that’s for sure. Chicken little that he is…he was much more content to run around and just…well…run around.

IMG_8880

Oh-and it looks like we have a future snow-plowman in our midst…

I know you all are wondering where the baby is during all of the snow-madness. Don’t worry. She will get her own post soon.

A new toy…12.26.2009

IMG_8762

A toy that Sage got from Nanny. She is so lovin’ this little turtle! It only took her a few tries to get up there and now…she’s a pro.

The only downside to this toy is that…you can hear at any point in my house the following phrase:

“GET OFF YOUR SISTER’S TURTLE RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

PART II of Christmas and an answer to one post from this month…12.25.2009

We all got ready after some serious playing with new toys (the guitar…the zhu zhu pets…the tractors…the baseball stuff {NO HITTING SISTERS SPEECH}…the ball popper…) and headed to Nanny’s house. Nanny is Penny to me and Mom to Paul.

Before that…what does a true Christmas morning look like? Is it all smiles and happy voices? Hmmm…there are four children all talking and trying to get into presents and touching the ones that are not theirs…so in short…NO A CHRISTMAS MORNING IS NOT ALL SMILES AND HAPPY VOICES. It is absolutely full of memories though.

IMG_8565

Yep…Shayne is yelling at Connor. Stormy is not listening to anyone. And Sage is crying because that is her toy. Seriously.

IMG_8573

Doesn’t she look so pretty? sigh.

Okay—we loaded up the troops and headed to Nanny’s. or Penny’s. or Mom’s.

There were 19 cars on the sides of the highways or in ditches or getting ready to be towed. There was a 4 car accident on the highway. Did I mention that it was blizzardy the day before (that’s not really a word…in case you were wondering).

So we get there safely. And we get to open presents. I am only going to show one picture of one person opening a present there. Remember when my detour happened? It was Penny (or Nanny or Mom) I was buying for.

IMG_8652

It is Youth Dew by Estee Lauder. It is her favorite.

And then we did some traditional pictures because…because that is what I do. Take pictures.

IMG_8728

From Left to Right: Eric, Penny, Carrie and Paul. He really does look like…no one in this picture right? Bald and shorter than the rest. He looks like his Dad though. Except his Dad has hair.

IMG_8742

Can you tell that my eyes are a little swollen? I am recovering from {ahem} pink eye.

IMG_8720IMG_8734

Carrie and Nick. Eric, Donnie, Jen, Logan and Megan. I love that we all see everyone at Christmas. I mean we see them more than just at Christmas but it is special on this day.

IMG_8749

Remember when I asked who’s older? I have done a few posts on this little guy. So the answer is…Sage is older. By 6 weeks. She was born on September 9th. And Logan’s birthday is on October 15.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also---I know---I know---he probably thought I forgot. I didn’t. I just hadn’t blogged about it yet. So…

Happy Birthday Jason.

Thank you for salting the driveway (and the neighbors). I hope you enjoyed the cookies. I hope you had a good birthday. Aside from having to work your tail off. Aside from the blizzard. And I know you were sad you didn’t get to see {ahem} Stormy. She worked so hard on your card. And she picked the Mater because she knew “Jason would love it!” Now that the blizzard is done…get some sleep dude.

Merry Christmas! 12.25.2009 (PART I)

12.24.2009---‘Twas the night before Christmas and it was a BLIZZARD TOO

This is the calm before the storm…kind of. Our flag was frozen stiff from the rain/sleet before the snow actually started.IMG_5180

We did our usual thing…posing for some pictures…but the not usual thing?

IMG_8348  IMG_8349

Paul was home! Because he had so many “starts” in at work, he got two days off. Which happened to fall on Christmas Eve and the day after!

We then got our bribe cookies ready for Santa.

IMG_8380 IMG_8381 IMG_8387

And the finished projects?

IMG_8396 Totally…ummm….scrumptious right? {ahem—oh and yes…they did use Valentine’s decorations on the cookies also…they love Santa ya know?}

Where was the baby? Right here:

IMG_8389

Because every time we tried to get her to decorate, she just kept eating the treats.

After we got the bribe for Santa to come cookies done we had dinner. The kids wanted spaghetti. We should have had another option. Why?

 IMG_8403 IMG_8407

Because spaghetti sauce stains. Look closely at this:

IMG_8415Can you see the spaghetti staining around her little face? I know it’s there.

Merry Christmas to all and to all…don’t get out in the blizzard if you don’t have to!
