3.13.2009---a story about an adventure to the land of Home Depot

Okay-a fun story about a trip to the land of Home Depot…
Paul went and borrowed a friends’ trailer so we could go pick up lumber (A LOT of LUMBER). So he stops by the house to pick me and the girls up. Okay no big deal. I tell Paul that I need to run into Target before we head into Home Depot. You see, Shayne has been asking for a couple of weeks for this certain toy to play with. I decide that this is perfect because it will entertain the kids while we look and buy the stuff we will need to finish the basement (yes, we are helping our economy…that’s what I keep telling myself anyways). The thing is this toy is called…potty putty. No, that is not a typo. That is really what it is. Do you know what it does? Well…it is this putty stuff that makes obscene noises when you push your fingers into (because apparently kids don’t make enough disgusting noises on their own). Yes, I knew that is what it did. But sometimes a mom has to do/buy/deal with disgusting things to make her kids happy. So anyways…each kid gets one (except Sage of course). Shayne gets orange. Connor gets green. Stormy gets pink. For some reason, Stormy’s is the loudest noise maker there is. So as Paul is bending down to pick more lumber up…Stormy makes her toy “fart.” As a man is walking down the same aisle we are in. And Paul is bending and lifting lumber. And Stormy is making these noises with her fart putty. Paul stands up quickly. Stormy starts giggling like crazy. I couldn’t help but look at Paul and make sure he really did do anything (it was a lot of heavy lumber). He tells the kids to put the putty away. Stormy waited until he was back to lifting and then…yes, let it rip again. And then she hides her toy behind her back so we won’t “notice” it was her. This little girl is going to be the death of me. She is so unbelievably irritating, funny, crazy, frustrating, smart, little, ornery…and well perfect.
